Service History

Sheer Speculation Press is run by J. Boone Dryden, who began as a fiction editor in 2006 shortly after graduating UW-Milwaukee with his B.S. in English.

He ran the Milwaukee Writers’ Workshop, which aided writers of varying levels through the process of writing, workshopping, and publishing their various works of fiction, non-fiction, memoir, and others.

He also helped in editing both Carnifex Press books and his own publication, Staffs & Starships magazine. He has since edited various novels, short stories, engineering manuals, educational materials, and a multitude of table-top role-playing games.

*As a general disclaimer on sensitivity reading, our current areas of specialty are in non-traditional relationships (polyamory, non-monogamy, etc.), as well as male, queer experiences. We will not take work outside of those areas for this specific service.

Costs

We work on a per-hour basis, typically ranging from $32.50-40.00 per hour based on the scope and scale of the work. For transparency, this is usually based on the following formula: 300 words per page (average) at 7 pages per hour (average) at the decided on rate per hour.
